What makes a story great? What makes someone a good storyteller? Storytelling is something we all do naturally, starting at a young age, but there’s a difference between good storytelling and great storytelling. In this lesson you’ll hear from Pixar directors and story artists about how they got their start and what stories inspire them, and you’ll begin to think about what kinds of stories you might want to tell.

Make Retelling Bracelets - create a bracelet using a green bead for the beginning, a red bead for the ending and 3 or more other beads for the middle. As children retell a story have them slide a bead from left to right for the beginning and then another bead for each story component.

In this unit of work, students learn about storytelling traditions and how they may be used to pass on important cultural knowledge, such as Dreaming.
They listen to, read and view traditional stories now told using writing, illustrations and digital forms. They respond to the stories by creating oral, written and visual texts and by representations in performance. |
