Welcome to Snapshot 4 Learning.
My original Snapshot Learning contains thousands of great resources but has "outgrown" itself. Hence Snapshot 4 Learning, which is hyperlinked to Snapshot 1, now exists. |

Excellent site - 'Aboriginal Sydney' includes the area bounded by Picton in the south, Lithgow in the west, and the Wollemi National Park and Norah Head in the north-west and north.
This is an area bigger than the modern Sydney, but we include it in our history because the Sydney Aboriginal people did - and do - recognise it as their country today. Within those areas most Aboriginal people probably understood each other reasonably well. The site includes timelines, maps, families, sites, culture, events and more. |

Aboriginal languages were originally spoken, but not written. To be able to write them, people have had to agree on the best way to represent the sounds of the languages, using the alphabet. In Campfire students will explore some sounds, words and sentences of Aboriginal languages.

The Yanyuwa people of Manakurra are the custodians of the Tiger Shark Dreaming song line. Manakurra is situated at the mouth of the Wearyan River on the Gulf coast of the Northern Territory. In this stunning animation, the Tiger Shark swims into the waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria, singing dolphins, dugongs, manta rays, the White-bellied sea eagle, whales and the Rainbow Serpent.
|
In this spectacular animation, the Groper travels around South West Island in the Gulf of Carpentaria, close to the Northern Territory mainland. She visits different Dreaming countries while creating waterways, plantations and rock formations. The Groper's story belongs to the Wuyaliya clan of the Yanyuma people.
|
The story of the Dugong Hunters, or li-Maramaranja, belongs to the Rrumburriya clan of the Yanyuwa people, who live along the Gulf coast of the Northern Territory. In this story, the dugong hunter Jurruji encounters trouble when he falls into a crevasse on an island in the Gulf of Carpentaria. This story from the Yanyuwa people is one of seven that can be found on ABC Splash.
