Mathematics Building Blocks for Numeracy
Picture
This suite of online professional learning modules forms the foundation for future learning. The first five modules of the suite form one course of 12 hours. These are prerequisite to subsequent independent modules which will be developed to allow for flexibility in timing and delivery.
Modules will be between 1 and 4 hours in duration. Participants will be required to complete tasks throughout the modules and produce a deliverable.
The Department’s current numeracy initiatives (Targeted Early Numeracy, Count Me In Too Online and Taking Off With Numeracy) are based on the numeracy continuum and have a focus on similar quality teaching practices. The alignment of these initiatives in this course will enable teachers to see the learning and developmental progression from K – 8.
Numeracy Across The Curriculum
Picture
Welcome to Numeracy across the curriculum, this course provides a guided process to integrating the explicit teaching of numeracy skills with curriculum content to meet the learning needs of all students across the key learning areas. It will specifically address learning in the context of NSW K–10 syllabuses. Contains the Numeracy Skills Framework.

Numeracy Skills
Picture
The Numeracy Skills Framework provides teachers with the numeracy skills required by students at each stage of development across all syllabuses. The framework supports the successful integration of numeracy across the curriculum.
The range of numeracy skills from preschool to year 10 allows teachers to identify stage skills and assess students’ prior learning. Strategies for the successful integration of numeracy within each key learning area have also been included. This information is essential for devising lessons with appropriate differentiation strategies.
