Lesson Idea - Encourage kids to take the lead by having them select their favourite work of art, take a minute or two just to look at the artwork and start a round of Post-it poetry.
Give each person a stack of sticky notes and take turns writing a single word or phrase on a note that describes what you see in the work of art. Continue for as long as possible without repeating words. |

This richly animated short film shows a young boy who wants to be a hero and fight evil despite being only '3 feet tall'. 'Fly Boy' tells his story in rhyming verse accompanied by music.
We first see him hanging off his mother's clothes hoist. His tablecloth cape allows him to fly and suction cups attached to his feet enable him to walk up walls. Magic jelly beans give Fly Boy other special powers to fight enemies as evil as Dr Sneer who has robbed his little brother of his smile. Clay animation and sound effects enhance the story. |

This clip shows a darkly humorous animation of the
A B 'Banjo' Paterson poem, 'Waltzing Matilda', using claymation and featuring animals playing most of the characters. The clip opens with the swagman being evicted from a country pub. The squatter's horse treads in the swagman's pie, a trooper is called and the swagman is sent on his way. In a bush scene at night the swagman attempts revenge but is kicked by the squatter’s horse. A mixed choir then accompanies the rest of the animated story by singing the lyrics of the song. |
